Thanks to Ukrainians "Planeta mriy" (Planet of dreams) can be launched into outer space

NASA has received the official request for a space mission "Promin mriy" (Ray of dreams)

New details of the space mission "Promin mriy" (Ray of dreams) have being released.

The project was officially endorsed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. On September 19, representatives of the State Space Agency of Ukraine sent an official letter to NASA specifying the details of the space mission, and asked to support their idea to name one of the planets of the TRAPPIST-1 system as "Planeta mriy" (Planet of dreams). This is the place where on September 28, scientists for the first time in history, will send a signal encoding 100,000 children's drawings. The illustrations have been collected for over a year as a part of the charity project "Zdiysny mriyu" (Make a dream), and now they will fly to another star system at the speed of almost 300,000 km/s, covering a distance of about 400 trillion kilometers. The purpose of this project is to show children how their fantasies become a part of the larger universe, and to inspire dreaming without limitations. In their letter, scientists also asked NASA to provide a tour of the Agency's facilities to Ukrainian children fighting serious diseases.

"We have developed special software for converting the children's drawings into a space-friendly format. We will be able to trace the signal path using mathematical models and calculations: since the speed of light in a vacuum is known, it will be possible to determine where the signal is at a given time. It will propagate as an electromagnetic signal at the speed of light, which is approximately equal to three hundred thousand kilometers per second,” says Victor Ozhinsky, Head of the Center for Space Research and Communication (city of Zolochiv, Lviv region). In this way, for example, we can calculate that in two days the leading edge of the launched signal will already be at a distance of 51,840 million kilometers.

Scientists have been trying to create contact with extraterrestrial civilizations for decades.

"We can state with assurance that in 21st century, this is the first serious attempt to establish contact with other civilizations and convey to them a message that our world is positive, kind and peaceful. And it is fitting that it was being done by Ukraine. After all, our state is truly "cosmic," says Liubov Yankiv-Vitkovska, Head of the Lviv Astronomical Society.

According to her, signals of whatever length may be sent into the outer space: infrared, light, ultrasonic, etc., but the most effective are electromagnetic waves, light- and radio waves, because they travel at the speed of light. That is why the electromagnetic signal is the bast option for conveying messages into outer space. Moreover, scientists believe that images are perceived better than letters, because drawings and gestures are what unites all peoples across the Planet Earth. And this is what will allow us to get along with other planets. "It's likely there are some objects or flying vehicles of unknown civilizations able to catch this ray sooner, and we hope it will happen within the next 10-20 years. We hope that extraterrestrial civilizations will understand the message of the image," comments Ms. Yanksv-Vitkovska.

For almost half a century scientists from the entire world have been trying to detect proof of extraterrestrial civilizations.

"The length of time of signal propagation towards the selected planetary system is approximately 41 years. This is a long lapse of time if measuring by the person's life cycle, but a very short one on a galactic scale. When the signal will be finally received, it will be decoded, for sure. This is proved by the theory of cryptography,” says Oleg Ulianov, radio astronomer, astrophysicist, and Head of the Decametric Radio Astronomy Department of NASU.

May we remind you, a signal containing hundred of thousands of children's drawings will be sent from the radio telescope of the National Space Facilities Control and Test Center of the State Space Agency of Ukraine located inZolochiv, Lviv region. And on September 28, an amazing event - artistic visualization of the signal launch will take place on the central street of Kyiv, during the KYIV LIGHTS FESTIVAL.

Children's drawings have been collected for over a year during the All-Ukrainian Art-Marathon #моядитячамрія (My childhood dream)

The "Zdiysny mriyu" (Make a dream) project started on April 29, 2016, on World Wish Day. During the project, hundreds of dreams of children fighting serious diseases have being fulfilled. In order to have the strength and energy to fight against disease, children should see not only the hospitals and tears of their loved ones, but also a world filled with goodness and joy! Such wholesome emotions have a healing impact on the children’ health and on the overall treatment process.

The project is being conducted by 1+1 media and TSN together with the charitable foundation "Ty ne odyn" (You are not alone). The Project Supervisors are TV presenters Lidiya Taran and Oleksandra Loboda. Volunteer — Nelia Shovkoplyas. Members of the project team: TSN journalists, 1 + 1 media staff, the charitable foundation Ty ne odyn (You are not alone), psychologists, pedagogues, artists, volunteers, celebrities, sponsors, etc.
